10 questions with…Erin Voss
1. Where do you work?
I work at Argent Capital Management. It’s an interest firm in Clayton. I do the internal marketing and performance reviews. In my position, I do a little bit of everything.
2. How long have you lived in St. Louis?
I am originally from St. Louis. I moved away for eight years after high school and lived in various parts of California during that time. Before you even ask the question, I went to Whitfield. I came back for the ease of living. My brother said to me once that San Francisco is a great place to visit, but not a great place to live. St. Louis is not a great place to visit, but it is a great place to live.
3. How and when did you get involved with GenNext?
I was looking for a volunteer opportunity on Thanksgiving, and ended up on United Way’s GenNext Web site. I signed up to receive e-mails and then I was hooked.
4. What’s been your favorite GenNext activity or memory?
I am going to have to plead the fifth on this one. I will say that GenNext is a great way to meet people. I have met many friends through GenNext.
5. Why are volunteerism and philanthropy important to your generation?
It keeps us grounded in terms of slowing down a little and taking note of hardships. We have been given opportunities that others have not. GenNext allows us to expand those opportunities to others.
6. Where you would like to see GenNext in five years?
I would like to see GenNext in other cities. It is a great program that can definitely be implemented in other cities across the country.
7. Did you fill out a bracket?
No way. I don’t even know what teams are playing. You’re lucky I even knew what sport we were talking about.
8. Favorite 90s band?
Some people might not think they’re a 90s band, but I’m going to say Sublime.
9. What’s the best movie you’ve seen recently?
I am going to give the politician answer, and answer the question I wanted you to ask me. My favorite movie is American Beauty.
10. Did you have a childhood hero?
Not particularly. My family has always been very important to me.
