10 questions with…Erin Voss

Erin Voss1. Where do you work?
I work at Argent Capital Management. It’s an interest firm in Clayton. I do the internal marketing and performance reviews. In my position, I do a little bit of everything.

2. How long have you lived in St. Louis?
I am originally from St. Louis. I moved away for eight years after high school and lived in various parts of California during that time. Before you even ask the question, I went to Whitfield. I came back for the ease of living. My brother said to me once that San Francisco is a great place to visit, but not a great place to live. St. Louis is not a great place to visit, but it is a great place to live.

3. How and when did you get involved with GenNext?
I was looking for a volunteer opportunity on Thanksgiving, and ended up on United Way’s GenNext Web site. I signed up to receive e-mails and then I was hooked.

4. What’s been your favorite GenNext activity or memory?
I am going to have to plead the fifth on this one. I will say that GenNext is a great way to meet people. I have met many friends through GenNext. Click to learn more

March quote contest

“On March 3, 1969 the United States Navy established an elite school for the top 1 percent of its pilots. Its purpose was to teach the lost art of aerial combat and to insure that the handful of men who graduated were the best fighter pilots in the world. They succeeded. Today, the Navy calls it Fighter Weapons School.”

Post the movie this quote is from below as a comment. First one to get it right (no cheating!) wins a “Live United” t-shirt.

10 questions with…Michael Lofton

Next month, we’re featuring Erin Voss, a marketing specialist with Argent Capital Management. Have a question for her? Leave it as a comment below.

1. Where do you work?
I work at Brown Shoe Company in their corporate office. I am a talent manager and Total Rewards specialist working on the human resources and benefits team.

2. How long have you lived in St. Louis?
I have worked in St. Louis for about 2 1/2 years. It will be three years in May.

3. How did you end up here?
I grew up in the Detroit area. My dad took a job here, so we moved to St. Louis after I graduated high school. I went to the University of Dayton for my undergraduate and graduate schools.

4. How and when did you get involved with GenNext?
Evan Krauss, who works at United Way, introduced me to GenNext. He encouraged me to apply for the steering committee. I was actually familiar with United Way from college – I worked on the fundraising aspect when I served as chair of the United Way student campaign — so Evan suggested I get involved with the volunteer side of United Way through GenNext.

5. What’s been your favorite GenNext activity or memory?
The steering committee retreat. The retreat gave us an opportunity to come together and discuss what we want to accomplish this year and in the future. Click to learn more
