Who’s the Boss?

On Friday, May 16, Cory Boss and Katy Lachky stepped behind the bar for the third round of “Serving a Cause” at rBar. The pair bartended their posteriors off and broke the $400 mark. Going into the night, it was uncertain whether anyone could top the previous high of $400 set by Mark and Sisi. Determined to be the top fundraisers, Cory and Katy dropped a Ted Williams on us, hitting $406. Much like their benchmark brethen, this could be a record that will not be broken.

Cory and Katy spent weeks rallying their co-workers and getting the word out. In the the end all their hard work paid off. And it didn’t hurt that a big group was having a birthday party at rBar that night. But whether the dollar was from a GenNext member, a random patron or even themselves, every dollar counts. After two hours there was a new king and queen of celebrity bartending.

After three weeks, the GenNext steering committee has raised almost $950 for the United Way. With two weeks to go and the competition heating up, who knows how much money the group will raise.  Now that the earlier goal of $1,000 is well within reach, could the group hit the $1,500 level?

There’s only one one to find out. If you haven’t been to one of the GenNext rBar fundraisers this month, what are you waiting for? There’s only two Fridays left. This Friday make it a date night, a girls night or a guys night out. Heck, go by yourself and just support the cause. This long weekend start things off right by stopping by to support Aaron Margolis and Erin Fann.  With the high now set at $406, Aaron and Erin need your help to win the “best bartending duo” title. This Friday in the Grove from 8 to 10 p.m., enjoy yourself and help support the United Way.
