GenNext “Serving A Cause”
Every Friday in May, from 8 to 10 p.m., stop by rBar to be served by members of the GenNext steering committee participating in “Serving a Cause.” And tip well - all tips will go to the United Way.
Steering committee members will be in groups of two and competing to see who can raise the most money in tips. Committee member Kevin Haar has been watching the Tom Cruise movie Cocktail to pump himself up for the competition. Kevin will be bartending with Anna Gettemeier on May 30 and feels pretty good about his chances.
“Anna and I will be bringing the noise,” Haar said. “I feel strongly about us winning.”
Teams looking to challenge Anna and Kevin are Washington University alums Mark Pydynowski and Sisi Marti on May 2, Jason Dickerman and Erin Fann on May 9, Cory Boss and Katy Lachky on May 16 and fellow nonprofit workers Aaron Margolis and Katie McGovern on May 23.
Regardless of who “wins” the competition, the end result is a great fundraiser for the United Way; money that will be used to improve lives in the St. Louis region.
“Serving a Cause” is a fundraiser that rBar has been doing almost since it opened in the fall of 2006. The bar is owned and operated by young professionals who are involved in various organizations and understand the importance of giving back to their community. The rBar is in the Grove in St. Louis city at 4054 Chouteau.
